Acupuncture in Reading

At my Clinic of Chinese Medicine I specialise in acupuncture and herbal treatments in private practice at Wallingford Community Hospital and at Goring-on-Thames.  Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine brought to the West from Asia, and is widely used across the world as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with other forms of medicine.  In China it is used alongside conventional Western Medicine for treatment of all sorts of conditions.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture influences the flow of ‘qi’, energy, along pathways in the body known as ‘meridians’, treatments involving the insertion of very fine needles into specific points along the meridians.  The points are selected by the practitioner according to the diagnosis of the patient’s condition.

Acupuncture provides a number of benefits for your health and wellbeing, including preparation for, during and after pregnancy, as well as other conditions, and is used safely and  effectively alongside conventional medicine.

Please visit the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) website for more information about what acupuncture can treat.

Who can have acupuncture?

Acupuncture can be beneficial for people from any age group, such as for relieving specific aches and pains like osteoarthritis of the knee, headaches and migraines, lower back pain, muscle and joint pain and following dental work, post-operative pain or for other common health problems.

Acupuncture is also excellent for people who feel that their body may be ‘out of balance’, even though they may have no obvious diagnosis. Some may choose to have regular treatment because they find it beneficial and relaxing.

Whatever the problem, this treatment is designed to support your whole body and not just your symptoms. A practitioner of Chinese Medicine will provide an individualised treatment for you.

Acupuncture for Fertility

My treatments are designed to help a woman become as well as she can be for pregnancy to follow, and can be used alongside IVF as well as during pregnancy. According to a number of studies and medical research, acupuncture has been known to increase fertility by reducing stress, increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs and balancing the endocrine system. Gentle acupuncture treatments can support you and be very helpful before, during and after your pregnancy.

Please contact me to arrange an appointment when we can discuss your particular situation and issues.
